Driver Protection results in Error: 193 (When loading with SC)

Hi,

I am trying to protect a driver, after protection i testsigned it using certtool.
I have testsigning /on on my machine in order to load testssigned drivers.

(This works fine on Win10) however when trying this on my windows 11 machine:

sc create KernelDriverTest type=kernel binpath=“C:\Users\testusr\source\repos\KernelDriverTest\x64\Release\KernelDriverTest.sys”

I am getting this error: 193

I looked it up and the internet says many different things ranging from file being corrupt to the sc binpath quotes being incorrect.


I am wondering if any of you have similar issues with latest version of VMP for .SYS files / Driver Protection, specifically for windows 11 (x64).
The security setting for me was: Ultra on several sensitive functions.

You have to ask the Microsoft support directly about this error.

Yeah, no. Microsoft will not help with this.
Will take an other year to get an answer that is actually on-topic from them.

It does strongly seem like securing driver with VMP is just not compatible on windows 11, only up-to Windows 10.
Can you do a test?
